Devlog #5

Devlog #5
As we wrap up the development cycle for our Video Game Development course, we’ve spent this final stretch refining the core experience and polishing everything we set out to do. This week was a big one: the game is now feature-complete according to our original plan.
We fixed a bunch of bugs that came up during testing and added new sound effects to make the game feel more responsive and immersive. On top of that, we made the environment more interactive by letting players break things like chairs, tables, and vases—just for fun and extra feedback.
One of the most important additions is a straightforward but effective key puzzle: to escape, players now need to find a key and bring it to the main door. It’s a simple mechanic, but it gives the game a clearer goal and adds a sense of progression.
We also finished the tutorial level, which introduces players to the core mechanics using hints and subtle on-screen prompts. To round things out, we added a main menu and a pause menu, making the overall experience feel more complete and polished.
What’s Coming Next
Where we take the project from here depends on the feedback we get, both from the teaching team and anyone who plays the game. Depending on what we hear, we’ll decide whether to keep building on it, refine what we have, or explore new directions.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this has been a super fun and eye opening project for us. It gave us a real sense of how much thought and teamwork goes into even a small game. From debugging and coding to designing and polishing, we got to experience what it takes to bring a game to life. We’re really grateful we got the chance to do it.
